A cappella world music

SOVOSO is a multi-cultural, highly imaginative a cappella ensemble, that sings a unique rhythmic mix of jazz, gospel, world and R&B music. SoVoSó continues to pioneer new horizons in contemporary vocal performance, bringing traditional world rhythms into the 21st century.  They have received top honors on the contemporary a capella scene, including First Prize and Audience Favorite at the National Harmony Sweepstakes, as well as awards from the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards and the Isadora Duncan Awards. SoVoSo’s repertoire consists of original compositions and other songs that present a global perspective, from Afro-Latin idioms to traditional jazz choral arrangements. SoVoSó has also shared the stage with Gladys Knight, Michael McDonald, Bobby McFerrin and Maya Angelou.

Do you want to feel musical and spiritual freedom in every cell of your body?  Connecting to your spirit through song, gospel rhythms, and spontaneity is what this lively, heart-opening workshop is all about.  You can experience in-the-moment expression.  Strengthen and explore the way you communicate in the world from the powerful sound you carry within.  We will explore gospel, inspirational music, powerful breathing techniques, song arrangement, improvisation, harmony, and learn from the stories we sometimes carry that keep us from our own full self-expression.  Get ready to dive into rhythm, singing, and dancing from a joyful, spiritual place as you discover how to truly hear and free the voice that is uniquely and exclusively yours.  A willingness to sing is all that is required.  All levels are welcomed.
